Nigerian comedian Bovi Ugboma asserts that women dominate the entertainment industry, contrary to common narratives of inequality.
On TVC’s ‘Your View,’ Bovi stated that women often overlook their accomplishments in the industry due to their familiarity with fighting for equality. He cited influential female producers like Funke Akindele, Mo Abudu, and Bolanle Austin-Peters, noting they are the driving forces behind Nollywood’s biggest box office hits.
Bovi emphasized:
“Women control the entertainment industry… They’re the biggest producers, directors, and festival organizers. Examples include Amaka Igwe, Chioma Ode, Jade Osibero, Kemi Adetiba, Omoni Oboli, Uche Jombo, and Genevieve Nnaji.”
He questioned the validity of complaints about male producers demanding sex for roles, given women’s significant industry presence.
